Important Exhibitor Information:

FAIRGUIDE/Construct Data is an organisation, based in Austria, who target the exhibition community, primarily in Europe, offering entries in a 'fair catalogue'. They have used the brand names of various exhibition organisers and events, including Teaching Exhibitions and its various exhibitions. We would like to strongly emphasise that Teaching Exhibitions is in no way connected to this company or to their products.

Using the exhibitor lists found in any legitimate exhibition guide, Fairguide sends forms resembling a free catalogue listing service to exhibitors, offering each exhibitor a free entry in an on-line directory and inviting the exhibitor to sign the return the form. However, due to the small print anyone signing the form is infact contracting to an expensive three-year, non-retractable agreement which Fairguide may later threaten to enforce.

Fairguide’s practice is a matter of concern for the whole of the European exhibitions and tradefair industry. We would draw your attention to a statement from Trevor Foley, Group Chief Executive of the Association of Exhibition Organisers:

"It has been established that Fairguide have never carried out their threat of legal action against non-payers. I would also suggest that if any of your clients feel the need to respond to the debt chasing, that they tell Fairguide that they have been advised 'not to pay by the UK Association of Exhibition Organisers and by the Austrian Embassy in London'…. The Austrian Embassy has also asked that any information / complaints are forwarded to Mr Burger Scheidlin who is head of white-collar crime in Austria. His email is maximilian.burger-scheidlin@wko.at. Complaints can also be faxed to the Department of Trade, Austria for the attention of Dr Thomas Wamprechtshamer on 0043 1711 005403".
