Annabel Rook, cybersafety expert at Skoodle (a safe social network for children aged 5 - 14)
 
Annabel is an ex-secondary school teacher who now works with schools to improve their cybersafety provisions. In this interactive seminar, Annabel will be dishing out cybersafety tips for Primary Schools, and highlighting the importance of involving parents, pupils and staff in developing e-safety policies in schools. Find out about the big issues facing children online today and uncover the solutions for your own school.

Taking learning outdoors can have a dramatic effect on a young person's cognitive skills, health, imagination and self-esteem. In this seminar, Sam - who delivers learning projects for pupils and teachers at the Eden Project in Cornwall - will be discussing the benefits that outdoor learning can bring, and the ways in which it can be implemented across the whole curriculum. The outdoor classroom is a free resource available to every school - come and hear how to get the most out of it.

How can new gaming technology be used in the classroom? The Xbox Kinect camera has enhanced how video games can be played. This session will share practical examples of how the games have been used to develop co-ordination and literacy skills. In a new development, the Kinect camera can be connected to a laptop and used to control Scratch programs for presentations. We will share the future potential of the Kinect for learning.

Did you know the ukulele won a Guiness World Record for being the easiest instrument to play? And that the National Plan for Music Education, which aims to allow all children to learn an instrument in school, is being rolled out now? If you've never played music or considered teaching it, this practical session is for you! It aims to give you ideas to teach ukulele in a whole class setting - even if you think you aren't musical. Delegates attending will be given a lesson in basic ukulele (ukuleles provided!)

Knitting is becoming more and more popular. Setting up craft clubs in schools can benefit social and communication skills. This session will share how knitting clubs have started in schools and are using new technology to share learning. Research is progressing into links between knitting and developing computer programming skills. We will share the findings so far, showing how programs are like knitting patterns, using loops and involving debugging to create a product for a defined user.

This session will explore the effects of creative dance on children's psychological health and well-being. Research findings from a recent University of Suffolk report revealed improved behaviour and concentration levels across other curricular activities amond children who participated in dance activities. In this session, Elsa will explore effective approaches to encourage children in dance actvitiy and how delegates can use the research findings to enhance attitudes and behaviours towards sustaining positive physical activity habits for the future.

Can we cure the cold? Can we survive without oil? How can we stop the Arctic melting? These are all big questions but can we do anything about them? More importantly, can our children come up with the solutions? Enquiry in the classroom requires a skillful negotiator - so how can teachers begin to introduce it to their students? Using two approaches: Apple's Challenge Based Learning and Sugata Mitra's Self Organised Learning Environments, this workshop will compare their structures and demonstrate how they can support enquiry.
