Local businesses become national successes, with the help of TES Education North
|
TES Education North, the teacher's resource and training exhibitions is proud to have been instrumental in several local success stories.
Returning to TES Education North 2010 after a sell-out success in 2009 (their first year exhibiting), is Jofli Bear. The Journey of Life bear (Jofli) is being used in an initiative across the county to encourage sustainable ways to travel, and keep road safety in mind. Suzi O’Neill, the creator of Jofli Bear, says the bears are not just used for school travel. “Initially the School Travel Planners use the bears in their initiatives, however once the children have them they are used in other outdoor activities and have all sorts of adventures together."
The scheme which started in the East Riding has shown remarkable results. Jayne Burbidge a Walking Bus Co-ordinator from Sheffield said, “Using Jofli in our School Travel Plan has shown outstanding results. Pupils walking on a regular basis went from 78% to 94%. Of the non walkers 73% chose to walk as a result of the Jofli Programme." The adorable bear has expanded nationally and is now being used in Scotland as well.
Another local success story from TES Education North 2009 is The Novelty Warehouse. After being a stock controller for 18 years, Liz Howard set up a new career after learning that both of her sons had Special Educational Needs. The Novelty Warehouse has sparked the imagination of parents, carers and professionals, and is also popular in schools and in hospitals, where sensory toys are used for play therapy. Customers include the National Portage Association and the National Autistic Society.
The online store won the Women in Business for Merseyside award for Best New Business 2007, and was runner-up in the Business Link 2007 Don’t Just Dream It annual awards. The Novelty Warehouse will also to be returning to TES Education North 2010.
Antonia Mitchell, Marketing Manager for TES Education North said, "It's amazing to see so much talent and innovation coming out of the North West and expanding nationally. If anyone had any doubts that the Education sector is thriving, they should come to the show and see the fantastic local products on display."
With lots of other new product launches, from exhibitors such as Milly and Miles (stand D53) and Skoog Music (stand B40), there is plenty to see and do at this year’s TES Education North. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with an dynamic CPD seminar programme including speakers from The National Strategies and OFQUAL, free inspirational workshops covering everything from Creative Teaching (Future Creative), ICT (Praise Pod, TEXAS Instruments) and SEN (Amazing Interactives) and interactive feature areas presented by CCE and Experiential Play.
