JeansforGenes

Friday 2 October is Jeans for Genes Day.

Jeans for Genes has been designated official show charity for TES Education 2009.

Jeans for Genes is the national children's charity that changes the world for children with genetic disorders. They help to fund care and support services, and research into the causes of these conditions and their cures.

Genetic disorders are, individually, very rare but together they are the cause of more than half of all childhood deaths in the UK.

Jeans for Genes' aim is to provide funding for the care of children and support for them and their families. They also help to fund research into the genes responsible and the development of effective treatments and cures. They do this by providing funding to a range of charities each year. Their support also means that families living with rare, often unpronounceable conditions, get their voices heard.

Jeans for Genes Day takes place on the first Friday in October and this year that's Friday 2nd October. Wearing ‘jeans’ is a great reminder of the ‘genes’ that you’re raising money for.

Visitors to TES Education 2009 are invited to wear their jeans on Friday 2 October and bring in a donation of £2 in support of Jeans for Genes. You can also find out more about what Jeans for Genes do, and get involved by registering for a free fundraising pack and organising your own Jeans for Genes Day.
